Company profiles

Every employer with jobs gets a profile. It tells you the company's official website, its logo and links, what it does, how big it is, where it is based, and how it is hiring right now. We build the biggest employers first, then the rest.

Every fact says where it came from. That way you always know who said it:

  • stated: the company said it on its own website. Text is quoted word for word, with the page it came from.
  • registry: an official or open record said it: Wikidata, the US SEC, the global LEI register (GLEIF) or the Government of Canada.
  • derived: we worked it out from the jobs we collected, like how fast a company is hiring. It names the method and version.

When two sources give a different answer (say, two employee counts), you get both, side by side. We never mix them into one.

Profiles on jobs

Add include_organization=true to search or get a job. Each job then has organization_id and a short organization_profile (name, website, logo, industry, size, headquarters, main links and hiring trend). On the feeds, include_basic_organization_details=true fills organization_url, organization_logo and domain_derived when we verified the company's website.

How we find the website

We start from the careers site we collect the jobs from, the company's own job posts, Wikidata and our own crawl of company sites. Then we open the site and check two things: it names the company, and it links to the company's careers site (or the careers site lives on its domain). Both checks pass: verified. Strong signs without both checks (for example, the site blocks us but its careers site is on that domain and Wikidata agrees): likely. Anything weaker is not shown.

Sources and licences

  • Company websites: facts the company publishes about itself, quoted with the page address. We follow each site's robots.txt and skip any site that asks us to prove we are human.
  • Wikidata (CC0). Wikipedia articles are given as links only.
  • SEC EDGAR (US public domain) and the GLEIF LEI register (CC0), reached only through ids that Wikidata or the SEC publish.
  • ESDC's list of employers with a positive LMIA. Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Canada.

We don't use LinkedIn or review sites, and we don't buy company data from other job data sellers.
