The short answer
An entry level jobs API returns internships, co-op jobs, new graduate roles and other jobs for people early in their careers. In The Jobs API, use employment_type=INTERN for internships and title or q for words such as "new grad", junior or co-op. Jobs come from employer career sites and hiring systems in the US and Canada. The free trial includes 100,000 jobs for 14 days, with no card.
What counts as an entry level job?
- Internships and co-op placements
- New graduate and early career programs
- Junior, associate and trainee roles
- Part-time and seasonal jobs for students
How do I find internships by API?
Use employment_type=INTERN. It returns jobs the employer marks as internships. Many employers do not set a job type, so also search the title for words such as intern, co-op or "summer student".
curl "https://api.thejobsapi.com/v1/jobs?country=CA&title=intern%20OR%20co-op%20OR%20%22summer%20student%22&province=ON,QC&limit=20" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"How do I find new graduate jobs?
Search the title or the full text for the words employers use. Advanced search lets you combine them and exclude senior roles.
curl "https://api.thejobsapi.com/v1/jobs?country=US&title=%22new%20grad%22%20OR%20graduate%20OR%20junior%20OR%20entry*&window=7d&limit=20" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"Can I filter by years of experience?
Each job includes derived values read by rules from the posting’s own text. When a posting states the experience it needs, derived.experience_years_min and derived.experience_band hold it. When a posting does not say, they stay empty. They are not search filters, so read them in your code after you search.
What can you build with entry level job data?
- A campus or student job board
- A career services tool for a college or university
- An app that matches graduates to roles by skill
- Research on early career hiring by place or field
Where do these jobs come from?
We collect jobs from employer career sites and hiring systems, where companies post their intern and graduate programs. Each job links to the employer’s own page and apply link. We do not collect from LinkedIn, Indeed or other job boards.
