Add Canadian and US jobs to WP Job Manager on WordPress
Fill a WordPress job board built with WP Job Manager with jobs from employer career sites in Canada and the US.
Updated
The short answer
WP Job Manager stores jobs as job_listing posts that the WordPress REST API can create at /wp-json/wp/v2/job-listings, with fields for location, apply link, company and salary. A small cron script can sync our new, changed and expired jobs into it.
Which WP Job Manager fields can be written?
In the plugin’s code, the job listing post type is shown in the REST API, and these fields are writable: _job_location, _application, _company_name, _company_website, _job_expires, _filled, _remote_position, _job_salary, _job_salary_currency and _job_salary_unit. Use a WordPress Application Password for a user who can edit job listings.
The simple sync loop
- Every hour, call /v1/active-ats?time_frame=1h with your filters (country, province or state, title, source) and create a job_listing with status publish, our HTML description as the content and the employer’s apply link in _application.
- Once a day, call /v1/modified-ats and update the matching posts.
- Every hour, call /v1/expired-ats and mark them filled or move them to the trash.
- Save our job id on each record, so a repeat never makes a duplicate.
Prefer a plugin to a script?
WP All Import with its WP Job Manager add-on can import from a feed address on a schedule. Point it at a small proxy that keeps your key private.
Why use The Jobs API instead of copy and paste?
- Our jobs come from employer career sites and hiring systems, so each one links to the employer’s own apply page.
- Full descriptions in HTML and text, pay when the employer published it, and every location.
- Jobs expire when the employer removes them. We never close a job on one failed check.
- Strong Canadian coverage in English and French, plus the United States.
Questions people ask
Will this slow down my site?
The sync runs in the background. Filter by place or role so you only import the jobs your visitors want.
Can I try it first?
Yes. The free trial lasts 7 days and includes 500 jobs and 50 API requests, with no card. That is enough to test the whole flow on a staging board.
