Add Canadian and US jobs to a SmartJobBoard site

Fill a SmartJobBoard job board with employer jobs from Canada and the US using Job Auto Import or the API.

Updated

The short answer

SmartJobBoard’s Job Auto Import reads XML or JSON feeds from a public address once a day. Serve our jobs through a small proxy that keeps your key private, or use SmartJobBoard’s API on its Enterprise plan.

What can SmartJobBoard import?

SmartJobBoard’s help center says Job Auto Import accepts XML, zip, gzip and JSON feed addresses, runs once a day, can remove jobs that leave the feed and can create employers from the feed. Its API is part of the Enterprise plan.

The proxy feed

Run a small script that calls /v1/active-ats with your filters and returns the jobs as JSON or XML at a long, private address. Turn on “remove jobs not in the feed” only if the script always returns every active job for your filter.

Why use The Jobs API instead of built-in backfill?

  • SmartJobBoard backfill plugins such as ZipRecruiter and Talroo share revenue per click. Backfill jobs usually pay per click and send your visitors to another site.
  • Our jobs come from employer career sites and hiring systems, so each one links to the employer’s own apply page.
  • Full descriptions in HTML and text, pay when the employer published it, and every location.
  • Jobs expire when the employer removes them. We never close a job on one failed check.
  • Strong Canadian coverage in English and French, plus the United States.

Questions people ask

Will the JSON importer read your format?

It maps fields automatically with overrides. Test with a small filtered feed first, or have the proxy write XML.

Can I try it first?

Yes. The free trial lasts 7 days and includes 500 jobs and 50 API requests, with no card. That is enough to test the whole flow on a staging board.
