Add Canadian and US jobs to a JBoard job board

Feed a JBoard (jboard.io) job board with jobs from employer career sites in Canada and the US, by XML importer or API.

Updated

The short answer

JBoard reads public XML feeds on its higher plans and has an API on its largest plans. Use a small bridge that turns our JSON into XML, with our job id mapped to JBoard’s external identifier, or upsert jobs through JBoard’s API.

What can JBoard import?

JBoard’s pricing page lists XML feed importers and Zapier on its Advanced plan and the API on its Scale plan. Its help center says imports run daily, read the first 1,000 jobs at once and need a public feed with no login.

JBoard imports XML. We send JSON. Here is the bridge.

The Jobs API answers in JSON. JBoard’s importer reads an XML feed from a public web address. A small script in between fixes that: it calls our API with your key kept on the server, and serves the jobs as XML at a long, hard to guess address.

You can run that script as a Cloudflare Worker, an AWS Lambda, a cron job or an n8n workflow. Never put your The Jobs API key in the feed address itself, because anyone with the address could use it.

The simple sync loop

  1. Every hour, call /v1/active-ats?time_frame=1h with your filters (country, province or state, title, source) and upsert them in JBoard by external id (API plans), or include them in your XML feed.
  2. Once a day, call /v1/modified-ats and update them the same way.
  3. Every hour, call /v1/expired-ats and delete them, or drop them from the feed.
  4. Save our job id on each record, so a repeat never makes a duplicate.

Why use The Jobs API instead of built-in backfill?

  • JBoard also offers its own backfilled jobs. Backfill jobs usually pay per click and send your visitors to another site.
  • Our jobs come from employer career sites and hiring systems, so each one links to the employer’s own apply page.
  • Full descriptions in HTML and text, pay when the employer published it, and every location.
  • Jobs expire when the employer removes them. We never close a job on one failed check.
  • Strong Canadian coverage in English and French, plus the United States.

Questions people ask

How fresh will jobs be?

With the daily XML import, up to a day behind. With the API loop, within about an hour of our collection.

Can I try it first?

Yes. The free trial lasts 7 days and includes 500 jobs and 50 API requests, with no card. That is enough to test the whole flow on a staging board.
